720HD, 147 minutes long, and 3.4GB uncompressed, starting at 6.99"I’m highly impressed by Randy Gallegos’ instructional video, “Alieis”. First of all, the fact that he did a 4’ x 6’ painting is pretty impressive in and of itself, and it makes it easy to see the work develop. But aside from that, it is a real treat to watch Randy paint and listen to him discuss his process.

No matter where you are in your art career, you can learn a lot by watching other painters work. And I always pick up a tip or two in any video that I watch, but what’s really interesting is that even though I’m already an accomplished painter, Randy inspired me, through example, to try some of his techniques and apply parts of his process to my own work even though we work completely differently.
Randy’s video is well balanced in what it shows you: from priming the canvas, to the underpainting, to blocking in color, to refining the details. It was great to see the loose and energetic approach in painting the water to the more controlled rendering of Alieis’ face.
Nothing is held back: Randy tells us about the materials he uses, his approach to rendering, and his thought process as he builds an image.
The video quality and color is excellent, and the painting is well lit with balanced lighting. All in all, I highly recommend Randy Gallegos: Oil Painting Demonstration, Alieis." --Thomas Baxa, Illustrator (http://baxaart.com)
