GMaudio MonoMaker (or 'GMaMM') is a mixing tool for enhancing playback on PA systems, translation of digital audio onto mediums such as vinyl or even as a sound design tool.
You may be thinking... '..but Ableton Live 10's new Utility Audio Effect can do this..', but you'd be wrong. The new Utility audio effect in Live 10 is a HUGE step up, but it still doesn't deal with Mid & Side information how you would expect.
This device separates the Mid signal and both Left and Right 'Side' signals independently. It splits these Left & Right 'Side' channels into 2 bands. The lower bands of each channel have their phase shifted in phase with the 'Mid' channel, the upper bands remain untouched. It does not remove any information from your signal, it manipulates the stereo image below a certain frequency and forces it to mono.
Ableton's Utility simply uses a High Pass Filter on the 'Side' channels of your signal, removing information below a certain frequency, leaving what was already mono.
So now you have a choice! Take control of your signals? or remove part of your well deserving sounds just to be safe :/ .... GMaMM FTW!
