Watch the Trailer:
If you’ve watched my class about drawing and painting rocks, you might be at a point where you want to take it to the next level. So this class is all about getting creative with our rock formations and then painting them with fun colors!
I’ll walk you through my sketching and experiment phase, then show my step-by-step process for painting these unique rock formations.
We’ll also explore the basic concepts of desert light , which can sometimes seem otherworldly! But with a few important principles I’ll show you how you can use any color combination to make your own paintings unique.
My Materials (you can use similar, whatever you prefer!):
- Winsor & Newton Designer's Gouache
- A5 Watercolor sketchbooks (both white paper and toned paper)
- Mostly flat wash brushes, with a couple small round (pointed) brushes)
I use a variety and it changes in each painting, but typically I stick with primaries or tertiaries within one painting.
- Zinc white
- Cad-free lemon yellow
- Yellow ochre
- Permanent Alizarin Crimson
- Quinacridone Magenta
- Ultramarine Blue
- Primary Blue
- Perylene Black (also called perylene green)
