Johannes Brahms is one of the most well-known and loved German composers from the Romantic period. His Hungarian Dances (1869) are a set of works that were based on Hungarian themes. Although Hungarian Dance No. 5 is the most famous of the Hungarian Dances, it was actually based on another composition called "Bártfai emlék", or "Memories of Bártfa", which Brahms mistakenly identified as a traditional folksong. In reality, it was written by Hungarian composer Béla Kéler.

This solo piano arrangement of Hungarian Dance No. 5 is perfect for pianists of moderate technical ability! It features an oom-pah accompaniment throughout and some of the technical difficulties have been reduced to make it more accessible for pianists with smaller hands who may struggle to strike octaves in succession. It would be a perfect addition to any concert or recital!
