A door that kills! You may exit, but you will never come back in! Your final exit! The last time you'll ever leave. You'll die to get away. Aaahaha! Death is open!

This cover hurts my heart because I honestly believe that with the right levels and fonts applied and all the absurd cheesy graphical crap removed, that plain photo of some shoes in an ominous hallway could actually make for a powerful attractive contemporary book cover. Perhaps even enough to make somebody buy a book called “Bloody MurDOOR”  - Stalinistgothic

EXCERPT~

They were this very minute in the process of unpacking their modest fuel-efficient car with a load of belongings. “Just settling in,” Trojohn had joked to a new neighbor who shot him a quizzical glance as he trotted up the steps of the handsome old Victorian on Marfmarns Street. The dog, Banji, an ancient golden lab luffed her way up the steps behind.

“Wow, look at how much space! We should probably call NASA, hahahahaha!”

“Oh T’rjohn, you nerd! C’mon, help me with this box, oof!”

They went on joking and moving boxes into the early evening when they paused to perform the contemporary house-breaking-in ritual of ordering delivery pizza and then sex on the unadorned floor. After the sex they shifted their attentions to exploring the new abode. Doors led to rooms all over the house: upstairs, a kitchen, two bathrooms, all of it examined and incorporated into their glistening dreamy-schemeys for their new life.

In the upstairs, a long hallway terminated at a large crimson-red door. There was a faint humming sound, probably from some old wiring and a split in one of the floorboards.
