A Novel Idea: The Full Course (Summer 2016)

A Novel Idea is an intensive, comprehensive, DIY-MFA-level, year-long course that will take you through planning, writing, editing, and submitting your book.

Enrollment is open for a very limited Summer 2016 session. Only thirty students will be accepted.

Who Am I?

My name is Shaunta Grimes. My novels Viral Nation and Rebel Nation were published by Penguin in 2013 and 2014. I've studied creative writing at the University of Nevada and at Goddard College.

What to Expect

Over the course of a year, you'll plan, write, edit, polish, and prepare your first (or next) manuscript for sending out to literary agents. You'll also have your next novel plotted and ready to write.

And, you'll be part of an amazing group of writers who will become your greatest cheerleaders and accountability partners. 

This isn't one of those courses where you get the info, but you're on your own. I'll be there with you every step of the way.

For the summer session, I'll be putting everyone into small groups instead of one big group. You'll have an opportunity to bond and work with the other people in your small group.

You'll be invited to share some of your work every week and have the opportunity to workshop with fellow students. I read and give feedback on every share.
