1951...Because we'd had a fair amount of rain during the harvest, Dad figured we ought to plant a few acres of fall rye to give us a jump on spring seeding next year.

And  it is a good thing we did because we thrashed a bumper crop in February.

As a rule, that doesn't happen in this corner of the globe...
