Welcome to : the collaborative zine of illustrated flash prose! Inside, you’ll find 17 pieces of original illustrated flash fiction, creative nonfiction, and prose poetry, along with a poster for you to pin up and a coloring page.
+ one of our blank mini-notebooks with illustrated cover and a permanent sticker of one of the illustrations from the issue!
Our core mission in founding was to bring more readers into the lit mag fold. We approached this mission with a love of illustration and a desire to broaden and deepen the wellspring of literary writing.
After a year-long digital experiment to create a call-and-response platform for writers and illustrators (we like to think of it as an incubator for illustrated prose), we are over the moon to present our first printed issue. We chose to publish on newsprint because it allows us to be big, beautiful, and affordably priced.
We are huge fans of open calls to submit, and we are proud that this issue features established and emerging artists alike. Don’t forget to check out the inspiration notes to learn how the writers and illustrators pursued their visions for the pieces you are about to read and, we hope, love!
