The name Horla is made from the French « hors » that means outside and « là » that means here. The Horla is something outside of here, of our world. Not exactly what we would call an extra-terrestrial or a ghost rather the future of the humanity, the being to replace the human being.

The story is written in the first person, and that gives it a flavor of authenticity.

Each sentence or short paragraph (usually less than 30 seconds) is followed by its translation. Depending on your level in the language you are studying, you choose to listen to the source language or the target language first. Listening to the target language first is a bit more difficult, but you learn faster.
