Presto, drawn in 1970 by versatile type designer Helmut Matheis, born 1917, was one of the last designs to be cast as metal type in Germany. It was never before available in digital form. Helmut Matheis authorised Fust & Friends to create a faithful digital revival and release the font in November 2017 – to celebrate his 100th birthday!
That first version was free — but its character set was also limited to the original one, which had German diacritics but not much more, and lacked various special characters that are now common.
Andreas Seidel has now drastically expanded the characterset: the new Presto is an international font!
