The Metaphor Handbook is a 23-page cheatsheet for how to build symbols (for ideas and objects) and even how to layout your sketchnotes so they are readable. It is also a methodology for how to come up with familiar items or adjacent items to get your ideas out. 

How does the system work ?

So you have an idea and you want to get it out of your head?

Step 1) Inside the handbooks ou will find an index for how to draw objects and helpful visual symbols that can be helpful when describing ideas and concepts. It is like a paint by numbers for how to use the stencil shapes to each of the symbols. 

Step 2) Once you have built the form using the stencil and the instructions, you can use the layout or frames,divider stencils to build a complete sketchnote or mindmap of your idea.

Step 3) Practice the Unstuck system so that you can make drawings faster and add the symbol to your sketchnotes, at a conference or draw them live in whiteboard meetings.
