Lent Illustrated is a seven-week Bible journaling study during the season of Lent, in preparation for Easter. What is a Bible journaling study? It’s exactly what it sounds like – a Bible study with a journaling component that allows you to take what you’re learning and turn it into devotional art. You do not need to be an artist to join us for Lent; every skill level is represented in our group. If you don’t feel comfortable making art in the margins of your Bible, you are more than welcome to buy a separate notebook in which to journal.
This year's Lent Illustrated theme is Fruit of the Spirit. We begin with Ash Wednesday week, studying two verses that give us insight into the practices associated with the Lenten season.
From there, we journal through the nine fruits of the spirit named in Galatians 5: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The virtues are presented at a pace of two prompts per week.
Finally, the third portion of our Lent study covers Holy Week, as we walk alongside Christ in his final days. There are daily readings and verses, as well as two journaling prompts. We conclude with a final, joyful prompt as we rejoice in the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
