Procedural Rock Formation for Blender

One click away for procedural rocks and infinite variations.

Several key settings are gathered in the Object Properties tab of an Empty where you can easily shape the rock along with the Empty's transformation values and obviously the base mesh transformation values which do also shape the main forms.

Catmull-Clark/Simple: Subdivision type, use 0 for a rounder boulder type of look and 1 for an edgy less worn rock formation.

Disp_Base Strength: The strength of the main shape, primary details modifier.

Dust Range: Adjust the range of the dust (texture is a placeholder, I do recommend to retexture in Substance or other painting tool).

Rock Color: As the name implies.

Rugosity: Secondary details switch. Set to 0 for an older boulder type rock formation. Tertiary details are supplied as a bump map.

*The Material and its Procedural Texture are just a preview, I strongly recommend to make your own inside Blender or in third look dev apps.

How to export?

There's a last modifier to convert the model into "low poly". Therefore apply down all the visible modifiers to get the "High Poly" version, Duplicate the rock and enable the last invisible modifier to convert the mesh into "Low Poly", apply to the model. Now ensure the mesh is not non-manifold and unwrap the UVs. Export high and low as fbx into a baker and bake all the utility maps to move onto the look dev stage.
