I first heard a fantastic street musician (harpist Andrea Piazza) play this on a cold day in Florence. I chatted with him a bit and recorded his playing of the piece. This three-part tune hangs together beautifully despite having each part feel so different. It is a misconception that waltzes must be played by accenting the "one" count. On the contrary, in the A part, we learn to shift accents with precision. The B part features several long descending bass lines, highlighting the advantages of "left hand lead". The simple C part feels welcome after the challenge of those big bass lines! The backup is adventurous and much fun. I recorded this lovely piece on Greenfire (with Robin Bullock and Laurie Risk). After we recorded Walking Stones and it took off (relatively speaking that is!), Dorian asked us to record a second CD as soon as we can. I am pleased to say that the CD is now available once again.
