This is one of Tom Anderson’s lesser known tunes but it is nonetheless lovely. It serves as an excellent vehicle to demonstrate how to develop a chord progression and that no chord can be viewed in isolation but must be seen as part of a story. I use combinations of major and minor chords to create a bass line and a few secondary dominant chords to strengthen the chord movement. A long-term goal that I have for every student is to be able to play an arrangement and a backup for most of their repertoire.
Even better is to be able to see a relationship between the chord progression, the arrangement and the backup. As you work on the arrangement and the accompaniment, try naming the chords. Try playing the simple melody and seeing if you can name the chord progression. The benefits of fully understanding a tune are substantial and are typically only realized when you get there!! The tune is relatively simple but arrangement is somewhat challenging.

Recorded April 2016 Spring Sandbridge Hammered Dulcimer Retreat
Until now, the sheet music for the arrangements and the video lessons were only available to students in Ken's Sandbridge Hammered Dulcimer Retreat Weeks. These videos were produced as comprehensive but informal, lightly-edited study aids for students to take home for all tunes taught during the week.
