Exercises in Muscle Control 1

$30

Exercises in Muscle Control Part 1 teaches you to feel and control your hips, knees, and the fronts, backs, insides and outsides of your thighs.

It starts with exercises for learning to feel and control your quads, and hip flexors, hamstrings and glutes, inner and outer thighs. Exercises for learning to feel and control the knees and hips follow.

These are the same exercises that I use in my classes. They'll help you feel and control these muscles and joints so that you can easily activate or relax them at will and feel when they are active or relaxed.

Muscle control isn't about a master telling the slave what to do. It's more like two dancers working together to become better than the sum of their parts.

Muscle control is about learning to feel your body and then responding to what you feel. But so that you can respond effectively it helps to have understand the options. Muscle control helps you to learn those options.

As well as for exploring your body and training it, muscle control can also help you understand your body. With the human body we can study anatomy texts and look at how muscles and joints and bones all interact but that provides only a single view. To understand our body we need to experience it directly.

And that's where muscle control comes in. It gives us the direct experience of our body. We get that direct experience by feeling our muscles activating and relaxing, by feeling tension in tendons increase and decreases. With that experience we build understanding, an effective model of how our body works.

As a teacher, the better you can feel your own body, feeling muscles activate and deactivate at will, the easier it is to recognize in your students, and the easier it is to teach.

Exercises in Muscle Control Focuses on knees, hips, and thigh muscles.

Exercises in Foot Control is a complementary set of videos that focuses on foot control. Foot control focuses on feeling and controlling the muscles of the feet and ankles in standing (weighted) and seated (unweighted poses).

The techniques in both of these videos can be used to help increase hamstring, hip and quadriceps flexibility.
