About the Composition

One of the wonders of the city of Oslo is that on its southern side there is a fjord, in which you can see the eternal blue of the ocean. It is there, where sometimes I simply look for a quiet place by the sea where I can feel the serenity of the waves, the sound of the birds, the whisper of the wind, and the breeze that spreads in the environment.

For some time, I was away from my loved one, so far that an entire ocean separated us and due to various circumstances I did not know when we would meet again, in those days when I went to the fjord the first thing I saw was the North Sea, which only represents the beginning of the great ocean that separated my place from her place and the distance of time and space that uncertainty dictated.

The musical theme of this work evokes this feeling of missing a loved one, of knowing her far away and at the same time feeling moments of hope, moments that inevitably end up suspended in uncertainty.

The premiere of this piece took place in the Majorstua Kirke, Oslo, Norway, in October 2020 and was performed by Rodrigo Mata on double bass and Tomas Laukvik on guitar, as part of the concert "Colloquio", in which they also performed works by S. Gubaidulina, K. Penderecki, and H. Thelin.
