Ja, vi elsker dette landet is the National Anthem of Norway, and was written by Rikard Nordraak. Before 2019, Norway did not recognise any official national anthem, and several songs were considered "de facto" anthem over the 200 years before. Nordraak was born in Olso, Norway in 1842 and influenced Edvard Grieg to write nationalistic music for Norway. He only lived to the age of 23 after succumbing to tuberculosis. This beautiful song is a fine example of Nordraak's vision for Norwegian music, and sounds fantastic in this piano arrangement!
