The Analects of Confucius is a 2400 year old text, pivotal in Chinese culture throughout history. A collection of sayings by Confucius and his disciples, explaining the different layers of the heart. At times, the sayings are hard to understand since they surround historical events that, if not known to the reader, make the text incomprehensible, and yet with few footnotes and Liu Yuan's commentaries sprinkled throughout the text, the true meaning is revealed.
Reading of the Analects is done one quote at a time and should involve meditation. In the Hunyuan Academy, Lunyu Meditation is a 1-year course that uses each chapter as a step in meditation and include the inner meaning of the chapter. In total 20 steps that compose 4 meditation mantras:
Empty, Calm, Withdraw, Heart Space Merge.
Actions, Dreams, Peace, Light Enters Deep.
Forward Effect, Prior Cause, Center Delivers Dao.
Unleash Calm, Complete Heaven, See the True Self.
