We spent our whole evening with them until sunset, watching these magnificent birds, with wing spans over 7 feet, and who can live for over 60 years and mate for life. I looked into their eyes, wondering what they had seen flying through the world. The mating pairs were so close to each other and showed great care to their chicks, it melted our hearts. The next day, my parents and I didn't talk about it, but we quietly hiked to that spot again. After the arrival, my mom said "we really should never do this again, its too dangerous." I nodded. We hiked there for the third time the next day, without me even asking. Without knowing, our hearts had already been deeply attached to them. My heart had rarely felt so peaceful, spending the few special evenings with these amazing birds, at the edge of the world."
