Achilles Tendonitis involves damage to the tendons and connective tissue of the foot and ankle. It occurs when the muscles of the lower leg become shortened and cause irritation to the heel with repetitive exercise or movement.
The following symptoms are associated with Achilles Tendonitis:
- Pain and stiffness first thing in the morning.
- Pain which is worse after exercise, standing or walking.
- Tenderness when the tendon is squeezed or pressed.
- Tight or tender calf muscles.
Without treatment Achilles Tendonitis tends not to resolve. Repeated inflammation causes the tendon to become thickened, calcified and problematic.
Our treatment guide will show you how to manage the pain and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Strengthening and mobilisation exercises will help you achieve normal pain free movement and prevent re-injury.
