24 Runes to Live By

Do you ever struggle knowing what's next?

When the earliest Europeans were finding their way through a world of retreating glaciers and megafauna, aka - making a life in the midst of giant predator and prey animals during a period of massive climate change, they needed a way to transmit information quickly from one generation to the next. They needed an easy to remember structure that could hold information about life. 

Enter the Runes:

The runes probably didn't have written symbols associated with them originally. They may have been a series of sounds, or words, or even representative symbols such as the animals, plants and other things that we associate with them today. 

They were a framework for holding knowledge that could be transmitted from generation to generation. That framework could shift in the information it contained as the people needed it to for fine tuning their survival skills. 

The Norse Runes

When the Gothic Bishop “Little Wolf” translated the bible into the Gothic language, the words he translated as “rune” were: council, plan & mystery. That’s not an accident. The runes were a “secret” code that held the wisdom needed to walk a path of greatness in life. They were the council and plan needed to make sense of the mystery of existence.

I believe they are the same framework that existed back in ancient Europe with all the information needed in the Viking Age. Why else would the Runic alphabet not actually be an alphabet? Alphabets start A, B, C in most European languages, especially Italic languages, which the written rune symbols come from. The Futhark runes start F, U, T, etc. I believe that is because they wanted to retain the ancient structure and symbolic order of their ancestors wisdom transmission technology. 

The Structure of The Runes

The Elder Futhark is split into three levels called Aetts. Each level is a set of instructions for navigating a different path that is appropriate for a different time in ones life.

The first Aett: The Aett of Joy

The instructions for creating a successful life at the physical level. It ensures all our needs are met, that we are useful in the world and being well rewarded for our efforts.

The Second Aett: The Magician’s Aett

These are the instructions for developing the transformational powers of mind. This path helps us to attain mastery in leadership.

The third Aett: The Shaman’s Aett

This is the path for gaining the perspective needed to become the wise councilor, for gaining the grand perspective, to have the wisdom that leaders look too.

The book is 79 pages of text and images crafted to illuminate the rune path and challenge you to find a way to progress upon it through three levels of accomplishment: physical, mental, and spiritual. They are the instruction manual the ancients followed for living out out their highest destiny. Now that path has been uncovered for our modern times.
