Today Texas is one of the 50 states of the U.S.A. ,but it wasn't always like that, let's see how Texas was born and how it came to be part of the West.

The first European to probably ever set foot in Texas was Alonso Álvarez de Pineda. Born in 1494, 2 years after Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas, this would be conquistador was born in Aldea Nueva de Centenera, a small village in the Spanish Extremadura, a former frontier region in Iberia, from the kingdom of León, known for being the nursery of many conquistadores of different regions of the New World. This article however, is not about the mysteries of the village and region Pineda left behind, but the land that he encountered when he arrived to the Americas.
