When I began publishing digital sketchbooks I included animations of some of the drawings. This showed the process in a sped-up movie. Watching the videos later surprised me. I had forgotten the many roads which I had taken to arrive at the final image.
People noted how fascinating it was to see a creative work evolve before them, like a time–lapse movie of a building being erected, but where the process was free rather than additive, and the outcome both excitingly unpredictable, yet seemingly inevitable.
So I decided to publish an ebook dedicated solely to animations of digital drawings which I created on the iPad.
Hope you enjoy them.
Remember to double tap the two-headed arrow at the bottom right of the animation to enlarge it to full screen (landscape). Sometimes you need to double tap several times, as the animation makes quantum leaps to full screen.
You can if you wish, in iBooks, toggle the background soundtrack on or off by clicking the icon for sound (top right menu, speaker icon).
Included in this book are eleven, one minute videos.
Best viewed in iBooks. For the technically minded, this ebook reflects current specs; fixed layout EPUB 3.0 with an H.264 / M4V codec for the animations.
