OVERVIEW. New photography by Dipika Kohli, in mostly black and white. All from the Atelier S P A C E series in Finland, which was about slowing down to ‘see’, journal, note, and ‘be.’ Most images are from the surrounds of the very small and curious town of Kärsämäki. Cover photo styled by artist Kathelijne Adriaensen // DK 2018.
THE BOOK OF SLOW MOMENT. This photozine is a visual compilation of a select set of extraordinary, particular moments. Moments of deeply personal connection, or lighthearted sharing, storytelling, mutually noticing details, or simply being together. In other words, slow moments. Of all shades, with: guests, friends, and colleagues dk met and re-met through Atelier s p a c e | Finland, June 1-August 30, 2018. Long moments of a white night of midsummer set the stage for a highly peculiar, wildly curious state of being; a ‘slow moment’ that effectively was 12 weeks long. Empty fields, sunsets, crescent moons, aspen, birch, rivers, and everyday village life gave shape to the photoset in these pages. Each picture is a germination sprung from that weird seed of a quiet, reflective mood and attuned sensitivity to the surrounds. ‘A Place Called Home,’ also in these pages, gathers strong feelings of re-discovery and connexion: from Finland to Cambodia, from ‘just be’ and Finnish mielenrauha, to a quizzical feeling of somehow feeling comfortable with adapting and feeling adopted by a surprising place, that by all social mores would not be classifiable as ‘home’. More on adaptation, look for ‘Angle of Incidence’, S P A C E | Phnom Penh, this autumn.
