The way we do it, 2011
16" x 16", Acrylic, graphite, collage on canvas
This painting was part of a 2011 solo exhibition titled "Modified Structures", and is part of a larger series of work exploring my interests in the failure of language, and the frailty of belief.
The human experience is too complex to be dealt with in words alone, and for me, the language of image making allows me to explore ideas and questions without the restraints of text-based communication. Each image stands as a kind of sentence or paragraph that points towards the intangible ways we experience and process existence.
The imagery I have developed over the last few years combines my interests in process, pop art, and art history.
