Three Songs After Adelaide [SATB]

A set of three poems by the American poet Adelaide Crapsey. Each song is based on a cinquain, a five-line poem in the style of the haiku.

      I. November Night
      II. The Grand Canyon
      III. Triad

Three Songs uses a diverse tonal language that embraces dissonance, yet does not stray into atonality. However, due to this difficult musical texture, it is recommended for advanced high school or collegiate choruses. Three Songs after Adelaide was premiered by Nashville’s Portara Ensemble, directed by Shreyas Patel, on October 13th, 2013.

The price of $19.99 includes the full score, with all three movements, and a license to print up to nine copies (for eight singers and one conductor). If you wish to purchase more printing licenses, please select the relevant amount above.

  • Included in this purchase:
  • A PDF of the full score (three movements) and a license to print up to nine copies$19.99

    Hello there!

Thank you for purchasing my music, and for being willing to promote the works of young composers! You are helping contemporary music continue to thrive, and as a composer, I’m certainly grateful for that!

By purchasing this digital copy of the score, you have purchased an unlimited license to print this PDF file as many times as you need, as often as you need. The piece is yours now to perform as you’d like, forever.

    Here are the stipulations:

    1. Please do not resell this PDF, or in any way redistribute these to other choirs. If another choir director approaches you asking for copies, please direct them to my Gumroad store so that they can purchase their own license.

    2. If you want to sell recordings of my piece, whether as part of a live concert CD, as part of a studio album, or otherwise, you must purchase additional rights. Just contact me, and I’ll let you know the specifics.

One more thing: please let me know when you’re performing it, and if possible, send a recording of the performance! I love keeping track of when and where my music is in the world, and I would love to hear the results of our labor. Additionally, if it’s close enough to Nashville, TN, I may be able to show up to the performance.

Thanks again for supporting new music, and I look forward to hearing your performance!

Good news! Since you already have a Gumroad account, it's also been added to your library.
