      Overcome Travel Anxiety

Do you suffer from anxiety but dream of travelling the world?

If you do, it probably feels like something only other people can achieve.

People with anxiety don’t travel, right? I mean, when was the last time you saw an Instagram post about someone having a panic attack in a dorm room? How could someone with a phobia of flying ever find the strength to step on board a plane? How could someone with social anxiety ever surround themselves with strangers in a place where they don’t even understand the culture?

And anyway, isn’t travel supposed to be dangerous?

Don’t backpackers get attacked or raped or murdered on a daily basis? And what happens if you get sick overseas? What happens if you get cerebral malaria and die? What if something bad happens and you don’t speak enough of the language to ask for help? And how are you supposed to cope if you have a panic attack in a place where you don’t know anyone at all?

Travel can be a terrifying prospect if you have anxiety.

      But it’s not impossible.

I know, because I’ve been doing it for six years and counting.

      Who I Am

I’m Lauren Juliff and I’ve been wrestling with anxiety for most of my adult life. I’ve had every form of the disorder you can name: health anxiety, social anxiety, agoraphobia, an anxiety-induced eating disorder, and years of daily panic attacks for seemingly no logical reason.

When it comes to anxiety, I’ve dealt with it all.

And man, I’ve hit rock bottom more times than I can count.

I failed classes at school when I was too afraid to stand up in front of a group and give a presentation. I lost friends by cancelling every plan we made. I convinced myself I had every terminal disease on the planet. I battled through an entire year of eating little more than an apple a day, and even spent six months housebound because I was unable to step outside without having a panic attack. Travel was the furthest thing from my mind back then.

People like me didn’t travel the world.

      Adventurers didn’t have anxiety.

Still, I spent years poring over guidebooks and dreaming of being someone with a less ridiculous brain, never fully believing my plans would ever come to fruition.

But then several things happened at once: I was suspended from my job, my boyfriend broke up with me, and I had to move back in with my parents. I’d hit rock bottom once more, but this time, it felt like a sign.

Six months later, I bought a plane ticket.

And now? I’ve been traveling across the globe for over six years, and anxiety no longer has control over my life.

I’ve walked on the Great Wall of China and explored the ruins of Angkor Wat, camped under the stars in the Sahara Desert, and hiked across a glacier in New Zealand. I’ve eaten duck tongue in Taiwan, lizard in Vietnam, brain tacos in Mexico, kangaroo in Australia, warthog in Namibia, and cockroaches in Laos. I learnt to surf in Bali, rode a camel in Morocco, flew in a hot air balloon over Slovenia, climbed an active volcano in the Congo, and sailed a yacht around the coast of Turkey.

I’m happy, healthy, and free of anxiety. And in a twist of events I didn’t expect, travel is exactly what helped me achieve this.

Introducing the Overcome Travel Anxiety Course!

I’ve created the first course for beating travel anxiety because I believe that forcing yourself out of your comfort zone and into the big, wide world is one of the best things you can do for your mental health.

This is the course I wish I could have taken back when my brain was busy convincing me I wasn’t capable of travel. It’s absolutely everything I wish I’d known about how to manage anxiety before and while travelling.

I let my anxiety control my life for far too long and I don’t want you to do the same.

When I inched a toe onto the plane six years ago, I had no idea that travel would be the single greatest thing to help me deal with my anxiety. It taught me that if you get panic attacks but dream of wandering the planet, you need to do it.

So many people let their anxiety hold them back, but this doesn’t have to be your reality.

You can travel the world, and I’m going to help you do it.

      Who This Course Can Help

I want to help you see the world, but I also want to make sure you’re going to be the right fit for this course. There are so many reasons why you might be avoiding taking the leap and booking that flight. Here are a few of them:

      • You’re waiting for the right time, but never feel as though you’re ready
      • You’re concerned leaving to travel could end up being a huge mistake
      • You don’t feel strong or brave enough to head out into the world
      • You don’t believe people like you can successfully travel without losing their minds
      • You’re afraid of giving up everything you know in case you fail and end up home with nothing to show for it

I experienced all of those fears and more when I first realised I was done letting anxiety rule my life. Everyone I knew who had travelled was adventurous, outgoing, courageous, and all about seeking new experiences. I… was the complete opposite.

It took a lot of work, but I managed to conquer my anxiety, overcome my fears, and buy my ticket. I can help you work through each of your worries and show you that travel is a 100% attainable goal. You just need to be:

      • Open-minded and willing to try something new to challenge yourself
      • Ready to stand up to your anxiety and no longer let it prevent you from living your life
      • Determined to start travelling within the next year or so

So, who won’t this course help?

If you’re looking for a magical formula to instantly cure you of your anxiety for life, this isn’t the course for you.

Working through the material is a commitment to changing your life, and you can’t do it by staying inside and wishing you were on a plane instead. Overcoming this disorder takes work — hard work — and at times, an awful lot of discomfort. I’m going to get you to challenge yourself, do things that scare you, and seriously switch up your life. It’s not going to be easy, but I can promise it’s worth it.

What You’ll Get With This Course

Overcome Travel Anxiety is split into four kickass sections, with worksheets for each module. Course content will be delivered to your inbox in both .pdf and .mobi format, so you can read through the materials on your laptop/phone/tablet or Kindle/eReader.

Additionally, you’ll receive lifetime access to all further updates and improvements to the course, as well as access to our kickass Facebook group, where you’ll be able to ask questions, seek advice, and hang out with members of the course.

On top of that, I’ll be dropping you regular emails to answer any of your questions, see how you’re getting on with the material, and help you work through anything you’re struggling with.

Here’s how the course breaks down:

Section One: Reduce Your Anxiety and Build Your Confidence

The first part is going to get you to believe it’s possible to travel the world, covering what you can expect to deal with when you first leave and how your fears will dissipate as you spend more time on the road. We’ll go through why travel is one of the best things you can do to eliminate your anxiety and the tools you’re going to need to start minimising it today.

      • My personal experience with travel anxiety: the highs, the lows, the panic attacks, and how travel transformed my life
      • What it’s like to travel when you suffer from an anxiety disorder
      • Why you don’t have to feel in control of your anxiety before you start traveling
      • Why anxiety isn’t something you’ll have to live with forever
      • The most important thing you can do to start reducing travel anxiety today
      • The importance of building a supportive community and how to find yours

Section Two: Take the Leap and Book Your Ticket

The second segment will get you to the point where you’re ready to take the leap. I’ll teach you daily habits to relax your mind, show you how to quash any of your travel-related fears, and help you figure out when the time is right to book your ticket. In other words, you’ll learn:

      • How to create a step-by-step plan that will get you from daydreaming over travel blogs and guidebooks to creating your own life of freedom.
      • How to start seeking out discomfort and what these baby steps can teach you about overcoming anxiety
      • How to identify your main fears around travel and what you need to do to start working through them
      • How to start ignoring the voice in your head that’s insisting you can’t do this
      • How to figure out if your travel anxiety is rational or irrational, and what to do in each case
      • The number one thing you can do now that’ll help eliminate your anxiety when you start travelling
      • How to figure out when the time is right for you to take the leap and finally book your flight

Section Three: Plan Your Trip the Right Way

After the second part of the course, you’re going to be ready to book your tickets, which is one of the most anxiety-inducing aspects of travel. It’s all about dealing with FOTU (Fear of the Unknown) here, and that’s something that’ll send your anxiety skyrocketing. The third section of the course is therefore all about managing any anxiety that crops up between booking the flights and leaving. I’ll be showing you why you should never cancel a planned trip due to anxiety and teaching you tips and tricks that’ll make for a calmer travel planning experience. We’ll go through:

      • Why the act of leaving is far more important than the destination you decide to visit
      • But also: how to choose the perfect first stop that won’t result in you wanting to cancel your trip
      • How much of your trip you should plan in order to keep your anxiety at bay while not jeopardising flexibility
      • How to reduce health anxiety as you get vaccines, buy travel insurance, and generally panic about dying of Ebola
      • My top six things to experiment with before you leave, and how to figure out which ones affect your anxiety
      • How to tell your family and friends about your travel plans, and what to do if they think you’re making a mistake
      • How to make sure you get on the flight, and my methods for keeping calm in the weeks leading up to your departure date

Section Four: Start Traveling the World

The fourth and final part of the course covers how to manage your anxiety while you’re on the road. In this component, I’ll show you the steps you can take to keep your anxiety at bay, what to do if you have a panic attack while travelling, and how to ensure you’re well equipped for anything that could potentially go wrong. Here’s what else you’ll learn:

      • What not to do when it comes to dealing with anxiety: the common mistakes travellers make
      • How to form a routine of daily habits that’ll silence your mind and keep you cool, no matter where you are in the world
      • What to do if you have a panic attack when traveling and why it isn’t the worst thing ever
      • How to create and stick to an anxiety-busting diet while you’re on the road
      • Which items and apps to take with you to help manage your anxiety abroad
      • The importance of maintaining an anxiety fund, how much it should be, and when to dip into it
      • My personal tips for getting out of your comfort zone every day of your trip without losing your mind
      • How to overcome the most common fears around travel: fear of flying; fear of not making friends; fear of getting lost; fear of getting attacked; fear of the food; fear of confined spaces; fear of being lonely; and more
      • How to stay calm and in control if something bad happens and you’re starting to panic
      • What to do if you hate every second of your trip and just want to go home.

      There’s Even a 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee!

I’ve put my everything into creating a kickass course that will help you transition from daydreaming about travel to actually getting out there and doing it. I’m so confident that I can help you overcome your anxiety that I’m willing to refund your money if you aren’t 100% satisfied with the material.
