Richard Strauss: Lieder op. 10, 15, 17

This album features Richard Strauss's first three published opuses of lieder.  Contained in these opuses are some of Strauss's best loved lieder, including 'Zueignung', 'Die Nacht', 'Allerseelen', and 'Ständchen', but also many lesser known and seldom-performed songs that will delight listeners.  Strauss is primarily known as a composer of large-scale operatic and orchestral works, but composed art songs throughout his life.  His songs feature elements of true operatic drama, but also moments of tender intimacy that follow on the art song traditions of Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms.  This album was recorded at the Venturing Hills Concert Studio in April 2014.
