Digital Painting Course in Manga Studio 5 EX - Lesson 1 - Conceptual Elements - Rock Formations

Chapter 1. Painting Basic Elements

This is a step by step process that where I demonstrate my techniques in painting with Manga Studio 5 EX - Clip Studio Paint Pro and narrate the entire process.  This first lesson is entirely in real time at 48 minutes.  I am using a Wacom Tablet to create this artwork.

1.1  We will start this course by painting a basic rock formation. Many instructors move forward too quickly and forget to start with the basics. In this course we will start with basic forms and work up to the complex dynamic painting process. Keeping in mind that even some of these basic techniques will allow you to create a multitude of effects. I will show you how to create the selection and edit it for our basic shape. Then using the layers and various brushes to start the painting process and define our forms. I will then show you how to use the Smooth Watercolor brush in Manga Studio 5 to add some nice edge effects to our painting.  We will then continue to paint and add more details using the blending modes to control our effects. By the end of this tutorial you will have a good working knowledge of the painting process that I use to create my fantasy illustrations every day.
