PURPOSE:
What is the real meaning of worship?

LOCATION:
Worship Center

PROPS:
No props.

CHARACTERS:
Worship Leader: Your actual worship leader
Wally: A “worshipper” who interrupts the service.  He must have a special talent.

TIME:
4-5 minutes

PRODUCTION NOTE:
Place this in a part of the service where you don’t interrupt the Spirit during the worship time.  Your Wally (or Willimena) should be someone who has a talent that is entertaining and visual such as juggling, plate spinning, spoon playing, handstands, back flips, something that will get a cheer.  Balancing a checkbook won’t fly.  Make sure you mic your Wally so people get that this is part of the program and don’t call the police.

THOUGHTS:
We call the time during our service “Worship” so no wonder people think it’s about singing.  The best worshippers have the best singing voices, right?

Psalm 100:2 - Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Not necessarily.  Most of Psalms was meant to be sung, but not all of it is about singing.

Psalm 34:3 - Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.

Glorifying and exalting are synonyms of the word, “worship.”  But none of them have to be about singing.

Colossians 3:17 - And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The true meaning of worship is glorifying and exalting God in all we do.  A pure heart is all that is required.  Not pure singing talent.
