What Are You Afraid Of? – a Talking Points Lesson Plan for English Reading & Speaking

This is part of the Talking Points lesson series for Intermediate to Advanced students.

We all have our secret fears. We are all afraid of something.

This lesson plan is all about the things we are afraid of – the dark, ghosts, spiders, snakes or English homework.

This is a great lesson full of fun and interesting exercises that your students will love. It can be great fun for all the class, to see as people reveal what their fears might be. The whole class can get to know each other just a little more after this class.

Your students will find this topic highly engaging and all the exercises will be great fun for them. It should definitely create much debate and talking time in your English or ESL class.

The lesson comes complete with:

• a 500-word article

• a table of essential vocabulary

• a big list of questions for discussion

Start the class with the three opening questions and then do the reading. Then you can go through all the vocabulary – or set it as homework for the students to do later.

Then there is a big list of questions that are designed to get your students talking.

It comes in easy to use PDF format, ideal for printing for your needs. Use it again and again for your English/ESL classes.
