Fill Maker
it’s time for another rack. This week I’m sharing a very useful MIDI Effect Rack that will automatically create amazing fills and turnarounds.
This rack is using the Arp device from the Max for Live Essentials pack chained with various MIDI effects.
It essentially works by holding one MIDI note and letting the rack trigger and randomize all the samples.
SETTING UP
To setup the Fill Maker. You need to follow these 3 simple steps
1. Load a Drum Rack
2. Set the Sample Range to the number of sounds you have loaded in the Drum Rack
3. When you want the Fill Maker to create a fill. Hold the first note of the Drum Rack (usually C1) and automate the On/Off of the Fill Maker
MACROS
This is the main control that should be automated. Turn on or off the Fill Maker
Controls the speed (rate) range of the Fill Maker
Set the number of samples the Fill Maker will use
Turn on a Speical Arpeggiator to quantize the fill hits to 1/16 notes
INSTALLATION
1. Double click on the downloaded file to open it up in Ableton Live
2. Click on the Save button at the top right corner of the device to save to your User Library
**You need Ableton Suite 9.7.3 or above and Max For Live Essentials (Free) for this rack to work
If the file shows as a text file for some reason, rename it to .adg
