How to use the Gift List Tracker
This template is to help you track gifts you receive at an event show as a wedding, baby shower, or graduation.
Print enough copies of the Gift List Tracker to record each gift you receive. You can estimate the number of gifts based on the number of people invited to the event. The template has 13 rows so, for example, if you invited 25 people to your wedding shower you would need two copies of the template page. The goal is to be as organized as possible. This will help reduce the stress of writing the thank-you notes.
Tip: When gifts will be opened at the event (such as a baby shower), remember to take the gift list tracker to the event. A friend can fill in the template as you open gifts.
Steps to complete when opening the gifts:
If you are receiving gifts prior to your event, such as for a wedding, record the date that the gift was received.
As each gift is opened, fill in the name of the person who gave the gift in the "Given By" column and what the gift was along with comments in the "gift description" column. If one person gave you more than one gift, list them all in the same description box or you can use two rows or more if needed.
Steps to complete when writing the thank you notes:
Tip: If you have more than 5 notes to write, do not write them all at one time. Plan for several sessions, writing about 5 each time. This will reduce fatigue and the temptation to write the same note to everyone.
1. When writing the thank you note, remember to specifically name each gift and why you like it or how you will use it. If you need help getting started, read the Tons of Thanks guide to awesome thank-you note writing.
2. Address the envelope as you finish each note. If you will not be mailing, write the person’s name on the front.
3. Check the Thank-you note written box or enter the date after you have written the note and put on the stamp and your return address label.
4. Mail the thank-you note.
5. Repeat these steps for each gift.
This tracker is free. Tips appreciated!
