This resource is for beginner and intermediate djembe players who want to learn new rhythms, develop playing technique and increase their knowledge of the cultural background of traditional Mandingue rhythms that are played and enjoyed worldwide.   I've been playing djembe for about 15 years. Over the years, I've studied with many teachers and cultural troupes in West Africa (Guinea, Burkina Faso, The Ivory Coast, Ghana..). In 2011, Grandmaster djembe player Mamady Keita personally certified me as a teacher for his school Tam Tam Mandingue Djembe Academy (TTMDA) and instructed me to join him on his mission, which is to protect, preserve and transmit Mandingue musical culture. And to do this by playing and teaching djembe.  I live in Tasmania, a small island south of Australia. Learn Djembe Online is my way of reaching a wider student body. In the videos, i teach the rhythms as i learnt them from Mamady and as they are assessed in TTMDA's djembe curriculum. The cultural information is what i was taught directly by Mamady.
