I'm Rick Boven. I'm an actor, writer, and sometimes director based in New York. I cut my teeth making movies in Detroit. I ran an independent publishing outfit in Chicago for a few years. I occasionally draw comics. I've had my work on MTV2, Fuse TV, VH1.com and a handful of others. One company even credited me as "Rock Boven," which is totally funny.

I mailed people paintings. Random people. People I'd met once at a party. People I'd known for ten years. Celebrities and artists I admired. This book recounts those paintings in a fractured narrative of the years 2006 - 2009. A unique hybrid of coffee-table art book and memoir piece, featuring over 20 original water colors, DO THE SPEAK is my examination of the struggle with identity, the validity of expression, and the decisions of adulthood. 46 Pages. 126 MB. PDF Format.

With honest, unscripted exchanges and hilarious anecdotes, I HATE CHICAGO was created spontaneously as local children descended on a photo shoot for Nick Vandermolen's book of the same name. I HATE CHICAGO: In the Gutter with Nick Vandermolen is an organic discussion of Chicago between children who know nothing different, and a young man who should've. As this short film uncovers, age and wisdom are not always mutually exclusive. [Run Time 05:49]
