American composer and church musician Angela Birkhead-Flight (b. 1964) began her work as a church musician in high school and continued her studies at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. After this time, she held positions directing music at parishes in Indiana and California. Birkhead-Flight earned degrees in experimental and research psychology at California State University (MA) and the University of Cincinnati (PhD). After several years of college teaching, she returned to church music and has held various positions in Ohio, including director of music and liturgy at St. Martin of Tours Parish in Cheviot.
