Hey there! I'm John French, an oil painter living in Michigan. I was born in Santa Fe, NM. When I was three years old, I watched my aunt draw a picture of me, and I've been hooked since! When I was a little older, my family spent four years in Italy with my military dad. Many of my formative years were spent viewing the ancient art and architecture of the Renaissance. After our European Tour we moved to the wild and beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I've taken several art classes, college courses, and workshops over the years. However, I'm mostly self-taught. Being self taught means getting my knowledge from many sources beyond and aside from the traditional classroom setting.
