What's changing with taxes?
We're becoming your merchant of record, which means Gumroad will automatically handle all sales tax collection and remittance worldwide. You won't need to manage any tax settings or applications - we'll take care of everything.
What do I need to do to prepare for this change?
Nothing! The transition will happen automatically on January 1, 2025. Our updated Terms of Service will reflect these changes. You can continue selling as usual.
What about international sales?
We'll handle all tax obligations for your global sales automatically. You don't need to worry about VAT, GST, or any other international tax requirements.
What happens to my tax collection settings?
Starting January 1, 2025, all tax settings will be automatically disabled in your dashboard. This includes both the state tax settings in your creator profile and any product-specific tax settings. You won't need to manage these anymore since we'll handle all tax collection automatically.
Will Gumroad collect taxes everywhere?
We'll collect taxes in regions where we have tax obligations as a merchant of record. This varies by location, and we'll automatically handle the appropriate tax collection for each sale.
